Combined Saved Answer Sets – Phase 1

This release allows users to combine saved items. Saved items are eligible to be combined if answers were selected prior to saving the result set or it is a detail record. Future releases will introduce the ability to combine query-only based saved items.

The combine saved answer set functionality is available for saved references, reactions, and substances.

The answer sets can be combined in three ways:

  • Add: This option will provide all answers present in all selected saved items (OR).
  • Intersect: This option will provide only the answers that are present in all selected saved items (AND).
  • Subtract: This option will provide results that are present in one saved item that are not present in a second saved item (NOT).

The Add and Intersect options can be applied to 2 to 5 saved items, while the Subtract option can only be applied to 2 saved items.

On the Saved page, saved items that are eligible for combining will have a Combine button.

Selecting the Add option will open a window populated with other saved items for which the currently selected item is eligible to be combined. Selecting 1 to 4 of these items enables the View Results button.

Clicking one of the View Results buttons redirects the user to the combined result set.

Note: In all of these dialogs, if the user has not named the saved item it will have the default name 'Unnamed'. The next release will require users to enter a name for all saved items.

My Profile Link to CAS Profile

This feature provides the ability for the user to access their CAS Profile page from the Home page or a subsequent page's header.

Clicking Account in the header opens up a drop-down menu with two options:

  • My Profile
  • Log out

Clicking the My Profile option redirects the user to CAS Profile. The first time the user accesses their CAS Profile page, they will be required to click through a series of dialogs to verify their name and email address and to confirm/establish a security question before viewing the dashboard, users are able to edit their personal information as well as change their passwords and update security question data.

CAS Concept Hit Highlighting

The reference text based search result highlighting now includes hit highlighting of CAS concepts contained within query terms. Hit concepts are highlighted in addition to any previously existing highlighting in the reference detail. For example, a search of the query ["water repellency" AND wetting] returns 512 reference results and is highlighted as shown below.

The bound phrase "water repellency" is found in the abstract of the first answer and the term “wetting” is a hit CAS concept in the reference. The reference detail Concept section now contains appropriate highlighting for any hit concepts as shown below.

Additionally, if the query term also hits on a concept modifier such as ["water repellency and non-wetting], the modifier is highlighted in the reference Concept section as well.
